Excitement in Advocacy

I am most excited about my upcoming life at 18, 19, and 20, as I will finally be able to advocate for the society that I require for my pursuit of a strict ethical code that respects justice over stereotypes. By respecting justice over stereotypes, I am respecting the safety of vulnerable groups over my personal comfort throughout my identity.

The Present

novaTopFlex and geoTopFlex are the two channels of my identity, available on YouTube. My latest video thus far, for any of you whom are in the tech-nerd category, especially on Linux and UNIX-like systems, is available at https://youtu.be/z9u2TIqctyw?si=0830UjN8lkOOuJ1U. This video does not contain any sound and is recorded using a fraction of my native/host display, following my mouse cursor without drawing it (so a motion sickness notice must be attached).

Gratitude in a Distressed Society

Preamble

novaTopFlex recognizes the diversity of thought within our modern societies. However, our economic forces are promoting ideals that at best conflict with, and at worse devastate, our ethical ideals.

Expression

Although externalities may be hindrances to my overall ability to identify myself with particular ideals, such as my interpretation of a code of ethics for our society, I continue to express gratitude when I realize that our modern crises are not actually inevitable and require significant efforts and pushbacks, both of which I conform to the ideals of as a person.

Romanticized Disputes

With the globalization of our society, changes to our expectations are as expected. Within nationalities, our regional cultures are disappearing into our national identities. As I am in the United States, I consider most country music in particular to be romantic, even if not through literal meaning. Also, because of different identities and the rise of acceptance of diverse identities, the lines between what may be considered “romantic” as opposed to what may not are actually blurring quite significantly, especially to extreme allies within certain nonconforming communities.

Harmony or Monolithism?

If I were forced to give up any of my actions, public or private, then I would be giving up my pledge to advocacy for external groups and equality regardless of my actions. This is because most of my preferences are advocacy preferences that create justice for all groups, majority, minority, and marginalized. I also enjoy taking pictures when we are open at times, and sometimes, even these pictures can reflect modern standards that must be rejected in more traditionalist contexts, such as specific settings. And apart from photography and memories, for which I had actually taken a class in fall 2024, I am also interested in advocating for various groups, including such groups of concern for various reasons. Even if I am afraid that a community is attempting to sabotage my ability to perform in a certain industry, I continue with my pledge to ally with the groups that promote modern standards, while also upholding the reasons of my belonging into the same industry. Therefore, without harmony in my actions and preferences, there are only consequences, and no benefits, because the actions of harmony actually distort the “harmony” in question.

Music Preferences and Tastes

My musical preferences are ideally focused on country and electronic music, as well as the occasional techno and EDM. My preferred artists are Siine, Aiyo, Victor Lundberg, Martin Klem, Rune Dale, Hallman, and Biddy Sullivan, though I am also open to additional artists as necessary.

Northeast United States Trip

My most memorable vacation was a period of about two weeks at the beginning of July, 2023, during a trip to the Northeastern United States following my accusations of real people as “witches,” resulting in a trip culminating in Salem, Massachusetts, for historical interest and context as to why I have the obsession with calling people “witches.”

The ‘novaTop Authority

novaTopFlex is an authority in the subject matters of technology, geography, and mathematics. Depending on the specific context, language, and/or application, abilities may vary dramatically. For instance, while I may be easily capable of utilizing my most commonly used commands or my applications, I may often utilize documentation sets provided to my system(s) by Dash by Kapeli through Zeal for video content on select platforms.

Part of the novaTop authority is the separation of identities into novaTop, geoTop, and futoTop standards. novaTop is for technology, geoTop is for geography, and futoTop is for mathematics. Video content, especially on mainstream platforms such as YouTube, may be further subdivided as follows:

• Documentation-based Topics
  • Content provided through Dash/Zeal and intended for educational, documentary, scientific, and artistic purposes
• Content-based Topics
  • Content provided by commands and features on the host system
  • Parameters of the content should also be provided within the content-based category.
• Context-based Topics
  • Content provided within the specific content of commands
  • A successive string of commands related to a singular stream or novaTop project are the core context-based topics.

Future Planning

In my future, I am most worried about my life at 18, 19, and 20, and i am afraid that capitalism will prevent me from carrying on beyond the age of 21. If I can even live to see 25, i am afraid of the high risk of extinction that our systems are creating. However, even under heavy capitalist pressure, i am temporarily able to resist the most obvious forms of capitalist influence. Such actions include posting onto ethical platforms under ActivityPub and the Fediverse domain, even if the connection is not inherently obvious at first.

Actions of Resistance

Even though I pledge to avoid proprietary software as much as reasonably possible, I unfortunately must post to proprietary services relatively frequently in my best efforts to gain a mainstream following. For instance, I have multiple YouTube channels, my primary one being at https://www.youtube.com/@novaTopFlex, providing information on various free and open-source topics, particularly in the software domain.

However, I continue to maintain my position as a free software and an open-source software advocate together, and even my online presence calls out the claim, “we need a mass proliferation of open-source software.” I prioritize my access to Mastodon and Lemmy in particular, though I would accept traditional IRC (especially Libera.chat) over such a proprietary service as Discord. In addition to my aforementioned position, I aspire to become one of the editors of Permacomputing, at least on the side of my activities.

Teacher Qualities

For a teacher to be considered great, the following considerations must be considered:

• Access to resources (ethically) when concerned or even stressed
• Assistance upon activation of negative thoughts of all types, without regard to specific internal or external situations

Sustainable Difficulties

Promoting a Sustainable Lifestyle

Unfortunately, we are trapped in the economic systems that actively prevent attempts to make for more sustainable lifestyles. In our modern society, there seems to be no escape from dependency on proprietary industries, hardware or software, automotive or otherwise. Since there is no viable escape for most of the modern population, we must resort to advocacy to ensure a livable and sustainable future for all. Therefore, the best action that I am taking to live a more sustainable life is actually supporting Permacomputing.

Permacomputing? What is this?

Permacomputing refers to the project to advocate for technologies that support all of the following:

• Right to repair from Louis Rossmann
• Free Software from Richard M. Stallman
• Open Source from Eric S. Raymond, Christine Peterson, et al.
• “Non-woke” Software Ideology from Bryan Lunduke

Please note that the bullet points above do not signify an exhaustive list. For more information about the project, please visit https://permacomputing.net/. However, most of the concepts listed in bold above are often associated with ecologism, intersectionalism, degrowth, and other ideologies often associated with Mozilla and related organizations.

The Daily Routine of novaTopFlex

Hello! This is novaTopFlex from numerous social media accounts! While I am actively considering changing my daily routine for off-days throughout my life, I have recently scheduled myself predominantly around The Lunduke Journal and host Bryan Lunduke. Therefore, throughout much of the past year, my spare time that had been available had predominantly revolved around the shows that had been created by Lunduke. While I do not expect to eliminate the influence of any journalist in the tech industry, I am actually planning to change the activities of my free time as follows (in chronological order, assuming the entire day is free and I am free of external duties):

• Start with The Lunduke Journal for overnight video uploads and news.
• Check Proton Mail for additional information, regardless of priority, categorized strategically based on context(s).
• Research and upload to YouTube, PeerTube, and related platforms, as possible.
• Check the Discord chats for relevant information for further research, links, and related resources.
• Completely disable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for study. Study for CompTIA A+ and Linux+ examinations, and possibly re-enable Wi-Fi when uploading based on hardware concerns or less common knowledge in the tech industry.
• Return to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to showcase the progress. As one of around seventy followers of Permacomputing worldwide, and likely the only follower to watch Lunduke, I will perform a new ritual of disabling Wi-Fi and Bluetooth when the hardware features are not necessary.
• End with The Lunduke Journal for video uploads and news from the day.

Also, under the most ideal of circumstances, the times that I access The Lunduke Journal content should overlap with the times that I am actively on the treadmill, unless and until Bryan Lunduke considers me for an interview.

Food Preferences → Favor and Flavor

The most delicious food that I have ever eaten was actually peaches. Even if the peaches are not proper peaches, such as my favorite yogurt flavor being a peach flavor, I have identified the peaches as particularly favorable.

Outfit is Identity

If I, novaTopFlex, were forced to wear only a single outfit repeatedly for an extended period of time, then in a literal sense, the outfit would become extremely dirty and may no longer be recognizable, depending on the specific circumstances from the outfit. If I could somehow ensure that I am wearing a monoculture of outfit while keeping clean and ensuring that the outfit could remain comprehensible, then I would prefer either of the following outfits for my one:

• Computer Science outfit in red, white, and black
• Cyber Academy outfit in blue, red, and white

Regardless of the specific outfit chosen, however, the preference for a singular outfit over all others may provide a fascinating snapshot regarding various personal identities, which in turn are shaped by contextual factors such as background, including cultural, ideological, and other backgrounds.

Spirituality → The Successes and Failures of novaTopFlex as a Tech Interest

Successes

Even though the successes of novaTopFlex may be increasingly attacked by adversarial tensions discouraging ideals such as a mass proliferation of truly FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) systems, I have been successful at encouraging a newfound interest in such software packages, while remaining in my extremely early stages of advocacy for the abolition of proprietary systems altogether.

Failures

Unfortunately, the most obvious evidence of my failure in spirituality occurs out of context of our current economy. While I depend on Permacomputing and related principles at odds with our globalized systems, unfortunately, I am unable to ensure that I remain opposed to co-optation by unethical entities in various contexts. Although the current ideals of novaTopFlex are currently shared by a maximum of seventy (70) tech enthusiasts globally, I am actively convincing additional people to join, especially calling for users of system hardware older than 2011 with software based on Linux, BSD, and/or Solaris systems.

Self-Care is Impossible

As we are living in our shared modern societal standards, self-care opportunities are becoming increasingly impossible. And for a publication like mine, which depends on extreme levels of dissent to our expectations in order to function properly, this becomes even more apparent. With massive destruction of the societies that we have belonged to successfully in generations prior, unfortunately, the goal of not worrying about these issues is no longer achievable.

Failures of Time Management

As novaTopFlex, my most substantial failure in my time management systems is most certainly my desire to listen to The Lunduke Journal, operated exclusively by Bryan Lunduke. However, I am also increasingly interested in all of the shows produced by Lunduke, and I am actively planning around a possible meeting with the journalist in the coming weeks.

The Principled Stance in Identity

If I ever decide to eliminate my strong connection to Bryan Lunduke and his words of wisdom, I actually also maintain interests that remain compatible with the Three Identities of my personal identity: novaTop, geoTop, and futoTop. I continue to gain interests in the topics associated with each of these identities, often to organize the respective topic clusters into their respective categories.

Alternatives to Time Waste

For better time management outlooks, I will begin to keep track of the times and timing issues that I have taken risks against in prior offenses. Time management structures are often hierarchical, and must be aligned based on our valuable preferences and our external influences. Our modern societies may not be structured in our favor, by the way. Even though I have gradually identified opportunities to escape from the mainstream, I continue to remain addicted to some of the issues of proprietary software modes, particularly when I access data from OpenStreetMap contributors.

As novaTopFlex, the ideal preferences to replace the encroachment of The Lunduke Journal and of the words of Bryan Lunduke are as follows:

• Utilize Internet Relay Chat (IRC) when concerned.
  • Participate in the fullest available resources from discussions about the Linux community and Permacomputing principles, among potentially related topics.
  • Mark as “away” when (and only when) physically away from keyboard.
  • Create a single, unified account with NickServ to ensure a proper account login for select channels (and to streamline the overall experience).
• Practice for Computer Science and Cyber-Security opportunities with access to offline documentation, especially with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth disabled.
• When available and time is remaining, utilize hardware and software resources to the greatest extent to practice for proper programming, beyond the core principles of the documentation.

As geoTopFlex, there is no inherent problem with the unrelated content of The Lunduke Journal. There is no obvious reason to associate geospatial content delivery with the technological news networks in any way. However, plans to replace the encroaching beliefs from Bryan Lunduke that are available to me are as follows:

• Utilize IRC and otherwise online resources when having trouble with using QGiS or other GIS software properly.
  • This may also include plugins, such as QGIS Cloud, that may have trouble with versions of Python newer than the 3.10 series.
• Ensure that the mapping and other geospatial projects have a clear focus, whether to provide centroids to avoid revealing personal information, provide a multipolygonal expression of the world map (or national or sub-national maps), or to provide generalized cultural or geographical data.

As futoTopFlex (sometimes futaTop), again, there is no inherent problem with Lunduke. Though this is the mathematics identity, and Lunduke may provide mathematical proofs for a few of the answers to solving tech myths or similarly tangentially-related topics, plans for the resolution to the encroachment may include video topics such as:

• NumPy
• SciPy
• SymPy
• Pandas
• MatPlotLib

All five of the topics listed above are modules from Python that are commonly associated with related to mathematics in the language.

A Banana Lifestyle

If there is one food that seems to transport me to my early years, then that food is probably in the form of bananas, which I have eaten previously and embrace significantly further over time.

Compilation Difficulties

I have attempted to compile numerous GNU software projects from source, with varying degrees of success. My goal is to ensure that I am not installing the software onto my internal storage, but rather onto my USB 3.x flash drive of 256 gigabytes. I am currently interested in storage tinkering, and my hardware and software should function in unison to ensure a successful systems operation. By ensuring that the standard GNU three-step procedures are being followed, the standard system operations should remain uninterrupted. Unfortunately this may result in a dramatic decrease of my storage space available, which I had not been expecting when compiling software for my flash drive, instead of my system’s host storage. I will continue to serve my interests in GNU and F[L]OSS software throughout my time attempting to compile such software from source.

A few of the software packages in question are particularly long compilations, especially with make set to a single thread. Convention is normally to ensure that make is performed with -j$(( nproc + 1 )), but I have not received any significant issues with single-threaded source compilation of GNU software in most cases. This has changed with the GNU debugging utility, gdb, which may break my external installation but should not break my overall host system, Ubuntu Linux, version 24.04.2 LTS.

As an American, my favorite historical figure could be George Washington, and he is my favorite such figure, alongside numerous other early American figures surrounding American independence. I will continue to gain interest in additional historical figures shortly, as well.

Inconclusive

I may, unfortunately, remain forever inconclusive and indecisive over competition regarding who could ever become my first or even who I may expect, now or at an uncertain time in the future.

International Bucket List

As novaTopFlex, the countries I would like to visit are the United Kingdom, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Lichtenstein, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Monaco, Italy, Andorra, Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Should Mozilla or another entity in my industry expect me to visit a country not on this list, I may respect the specifics of whatever situation is occurring at a given time.

New Kent is not Richmond!

novaTopFlex is advocating viewers from the Richmond area, particularly the east side of the region, to act quickly. Suburbanization is a crisis, particularly regarding the boundaries of New Kent County, since the area was not intended for significant nor large-scale development in the first place! Modern New Kent County is intended to be rural, as with the modern boundaries of Charles City County to the south.

Also, the novaTop QGIS Project is currently interested in OpenStreetMap contributors from the following regions in the surrounding area:

• Richmond
• Williamsburg
• Hampton Roads (inc. Virginia Beach, Norfolk, and surrounding areas, plus regions north of the James River and south into North Carolina)

My favorite thing about myself is essentially the ability for me to achieve any level of ambition I put myself up to—even heavy multitasking where absolutely necessary.

Retirement Goals

I would like to retire successfully away from the worst of capitalism, and successfully manage to ensure the most out of my final years.

In Support of “Permacomputing”

The oldest thing that I own that I continue to use daily is a 2017 MacBook Pro, 13 inches, with the Touch Bar. While my purpose for using this device has changed substantially, from BYOD to a reused purpose via Ubuntu Linux, I continue to utilize the fullest of the functionality possible on my computer. Unfortunately, under my current setup, I am unable to use my FaceTime camera, Touch Bar (including Escape functionality), speaker, and microphone. Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) devices largely remain functional on Linux but may require a system reboot.

Topic and Channel Outlook

• Facebook/Instagram/Threads: Only geoTopFlex content
• GitHub: New content is unlikely as nTF temporarily switches focus onto content creation.
• YouTube: Python, PEPs, and RFCs are expected to dominate the conversation.
• Mastodon: Expect Linux and open-source to dominate the conversation, though specific interests will be detoured onto Linux.social. I have received a BAN on Linux.chat for appearing as a bot and not as a real person, and I am currently working on the process to relieve myself, if you can comment with ideas on how best to paste 10,000+ lines of code without committing spam.
• InfoSec Family: Cybersecurity will continue to dominate the conversation with novaTopFlex. Most times I am not actively streaming and/or recording onto my main YouTube channels specifically, not even accounting the possible use of PeerTube in the Fediverse, I will expect to be busy with TryHackMe and cybersecurity competition practice. This includes Mastodon, Lemmy, and WriteFreely services from InfoSec.
• Linux family: Unfortunately,I am currently unable to participate in the live chat as I am associated with bots. I can—and will—continue to cite Linux sources as necessary on other platforms on the Linux family.
• Programming.dev: This Lemmy instance should be utilized as a documentation showcase for C, C++, and other related resources. Compiled languages take precedent over interpreted languages at all times on this instance.
• PeerTube (TILvids): Expect my first videos ever to be published on this platform to be introduced soon.
• Misskey: Less frequently to be utilized for service, but if necessary, this service may be utilized to supplement Mastodon.
• Pleroma (annihilation.social): New screenshots are anticipated soon, with a predominant mindset of focusing on interfaces.

The Identity

The novaTop Identity has just become official! Significant influences to the identity are prevalent from Rossmann, Stallman, and, of course, even from the Voldemort of Tech! When you access my YouTube channels, there may occasionally be a dichotomy between formal and informal influences, so if you are looking for more professional content, please check the video content longer than five minutes in real time or videos where the video stream has been slowed down. Or for slightly more informal tech suggestions, the videos that had been sped up or are in real time less than five minutes may be of better help. There will also be the occasional video that requires a mix of speeds, but videos that include a slowdown portion should be more suitable for practical and professional settings.

Categories of videos from the three identities may be categorized based on length, speed, type, and topic. Turning points in length occur at five minutes and again at fifteen minutes, while speeds can be faster, normal, slower, or even mixed. Types may include documentation-, content-, and context-based topics. Topics will be included at the beginning of every novaTop video. Technologies will be under the novaTop category, while geospatial progress and recommendations will be under geoTop. futoTop does not have an official identity, so the identity may become more prevalent in select novaTop and geoTop content streams, if any given topic relates to mathematics, or possibly science, in any way.

Documentation-based topics refer to topics present on YouTube videos on the novaTopFlex channel that are entirely based on documentation on Dash or Zeal. Topics with additional influences beyond the Zeal documentation may be content- or context-based. All videos in the geoTopFlex channel are considered context-based channels. Content-based topics specifically refer to the output of specific command(s), regardless of the requirement to view additional internal and/or external documentation. Context-based topics are specifically based on a specific situation occurring within novaTopFlex.

If there are interviews or external forces involved in a novaTopFlex video or stream, then these meetings must break through. Expect novaTopFlex to speak about the future and issues in the technology industry during these times of elevated risk. Questions may also be focused on the context, but videos with third parties may not be considered “context-based.”

I, with my three separate yet interrelated identities of interest, am always passionate about my frequent uses of different services, including Microsoft’s GroupMe; Meta’s Facebook, Instagram, and Threads; Discord; Linktree; and even Fediverse services including three (soon to be possibly four) Mastodon instances, three Lemmy instances, PeerTube (TILvids), Misskey, Pleroma (annihilation.social), WriteFreely, and this subdomain on WordPress.com.

I have a strong passion for the communities that I belong to, including freeCodeCamp, Linux, Ubuntu as a distro, QGIS, and the occasional mathematics domain. Soon, I can also claim to extend my passions into the following content management engines: WordPress.org, Joomla.org, Drupal.org, and Jekyll.
