novaTopFlex continues to seek interests in New England, New York, the Mid-Atlantic, and the Great Lakes and Upper Midwest as well. The current focus is centered around northern Wisconsin; however, novaTop is open to suggestions of interests in neighboring Michigan and Minnesota as well. The surrounding area is often associated with Scandinavian and broader Nordic culture, and while Finland is not Scandinavian, the western Upper Peninsula of Michigan is the cultural center of Finnish America.

novaTopFlex returns to a mathematic conquest of the journey to the top, the gateway to pure mathematic joy and excellence, and all the way to the purest forms of excitement! The novaTop community shall anticipate the highest performance levels possible in every respect in terms of what is considered ideal, desirable, and acceptable, with very high standards to ensure accuracy, fairness, and correctness. Starting with phase one, where a calculator is allowed, recommended, and encouraged, but going into phases two and three, as novaTop approaches the state and national conquest stages, it gets very important to be prepared for every possible next step.

Curious Facts about the Journey

novaTopFlex continues to discover new interests across New England, New York, the Mid-Atlantic states, and the Great Lakes region. In the region of Yankeedom, individual and community values are always welcomed and the community is frequently more important than the individuals within. Even as far west as places like Jamestown, North Dakota; Aberdeen, South Dakota; or Vermillion, South Dakota, the community is generally valued more deeply than the general individual populations.

novaTopFlex Posts Can Be Charged. Why?

The posts of novaTopFlex, whether in text, audio, photo, video, or other form(s), can often be regionally charged because of the cultural disparities between regions. Colin Woodard had written an entire book about the existence of eleven rival cultures in the United States of America alone, with many of these cultures extending across international borders, as well. While the Deep South could see novaTopFlex posts as a lifestyle change from their social scripts and traditional roles being enforced, Yankeedom might see these posts as a form of “common sense.”

Yankeedom, as a region, was chiefly Pilgrim and Puritan at the very beginning but with Pilgrims absorbed into Puritan culture later on and, eventually, the outgrowth of Puritanism and secularization of the region. As such, Yankeedom is the epitome of the separation of church and state, with the Northern New England states ranking as the least religious nationally. In stark contrast to Yankeedom, however, include regions such as the Midlands, Greater Appalachia, and the Deep South, whether through the direct or indirect promotion of conflicting values such as individualization, privatization, or traditional social or hierarchical scripts or otherwise.

The Principles that I Live By

Preamble

To an ever increasing extent since the year of 2016, I have increasingly associated my lifestyle with intentional connections to the people who truly match my energy and vibe with me. Because of a history where I have aligned better with my chosen people, free from any societal constraints or pressures, up to a certain point where I have begun to receive warnings of trouble and gossip, I have increasingly realized that my personality might actually depend on a utopian communal lifestyle.

Influences and Regional Markers

Geographically, the influences and the regional markers associated with my personality have largely been determined by the exact principles of Yankeedom to a certain extent through both the Pilgrims and the Puritans. The regions of interest also extend beyond Yankee cultural values and into Quaker and Dutch colonial values further south, as well as into a few special locations in the Lower Midwest, namely Columbus and Indianapolis.

Early Colonial Influences → Pilgrim and Puritan Values from the 17th Century

Both the Pilgrims and the Puritans have influenced many facets of my faith and values, albeit in unique mindsets and specific ways which may be unique to the context(s) in question. While both have arrived relatively near the Massachusetts Bay, the Puritans had generally arrived further south at the Plymouth Colony, while the Pilgrims were largely associated with the Massachusetts Bay Colony further north. According to PBS, both were English Protestant groups; however, the Pilgrims had believed in separation from the Church of England while the Puritans had believed that the Church remained excessively Catholic. Even Thanksgiving Day continues to be celebrated every year to this day as part of the national consciousness of the historical significance of the Pilgrims of Plymouth, even though they had later been absorbed into the Puritans whose faith had since been diminished even further (PBS).

Even centuries after the absorption of Plymouth into what is now the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the SouthCoast retains an identity culture clearly distinct from the mainstream cultural traits of the Boston Metropolitan Area. While the SouthCoast has since been influenced by Rhode Island figures, including Roger Williams and Anne Hutchinson, later on, even if very indirectly, the cultural elements of the modern day now include influences from Rhode Island cities and towns, including their state capital and largest city, Providence. But even within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the modern-day Counties of Plymouth, Bristol, and Barnstable have continued along with a clearly distinct identity from the overall cultural traits of the element in Massachusetts.

Salem Witch Trials

I can also trace my personality back to other notable historical events from the Yankee track of British Colonial America, including the Salem Witch Trials from approximately February 1692 to March 1693. At the time, Massachusetts communities including Salem and Peabody were already suffering from the consequences of mass hysteria and moral panic culture as a direct result of traditional social scripts and hierarchical norms that were already dissented by the colonial settlers of the time. The area was particularly vulnerable to the consequences of King William’s War between 1689 and 1697 and the larger War of the Grand Alliance in the European theater between England, the Netherlands, and the Austrian Habsburg rulers all against Louis XIV of France (Britannica). At the time of this war, the underlying tension was specifically between the Bourbon and Habsburg dynasties (Britannica), as the expansion plans of the former had been blocked by an alliance of the latter. Since the Habsburg rulers were at a dead-end in their male line, their inheritance would be forced to pass down through the female line, which had contained the Bourbon dynasty (Britannica).

As the North American extension of the aforementioned War of the Grand Alliance, King William’s War was also between Louis XIV of France and William III of Great Britain and the League of Augsburg of the time (Britannica). Colonists from both Canada and the New England region of the time were divided in their support for their mother countries, and Port Royal, Acadia (now Nova Scotia) would be successfully captured while the capture of Québec had failed under the British leadership of Sir William Phips (Britannica). The French and Indian forces, however, were successful against Casco Bay in present-day Maine, Salmon Falls in present-day New Hampshire, and Schenectady, though not against Boston (Britannica). Because of the importance of Native American participation in the North American theater of the war, this war is sometimes considered the first of four French and Indian Wars (Britannica).

The wars that had resulted in the Salem Witch Trials of 1692 and into 1693 would collectively end at the Treaties of Rijkwijk in 1697 (Britannica). According to the Peace Palace Library, the Treaties of Rijswijk had ultimately resulted in the end of the “Nine-Years War” across the board in the months of September and October of 1697. However, the Salem Witch Trials had occurred during the scope of these wars, beginning with the daughter and niece of Reverend Samuel Parris and resulting in “bewitchment” accusations including one man pressed to death and numerous others being imprisoned or otherwise changed (Salem.org). At the time of the incident, William Griggs had been the village doctor of bewitchment, and according to the Salem Witch Museum, the concept of a “witch-hunt” is an arbitrary social construct against purely innocent people.

April 19, 1775: The Battles of Lexington and Concord

The Battles of Lexington and Concord of the American Revolution also influence my present-day personality traits, particularly through defiance of the British at the time. According to the American Battlefield Trust, the American Revolution, which had largely occurred as a direct as well as an indirect result of British oppression of colonists in British Colonial America, would begin with Lexington and Concord as the very first battle as a direct result of American resistance of the British forces. While Captain John Parker was a notable figure from the event, Paul Revere would become a notable symbol of the entire American Revolution.

“Success” through Elizabeth Cady Stanton

When I hear the word “successful,” I often turn to thinking about Elizabeth Cady Stanton, a well-known political and cultural activist regarding equal rights for both sides of the binary, even though the binary itself had not yet been challenged in her era. She was a notable figure from the Seneca Falls Convention in Seneca Falls, New York, for her role in women’s suffrage rights.

“Lazy” Days: Are They Really a Thing?

Global society at large often thinks that “lazy” days are very real and very much “unproductive” days when, in reality, these are the days in which we should feel relieved from menial labor. Unfortunately, we live in a capitalist society, which results in the cultural erasure of the communal values that humanity absolutely depends on for collective survival. Our society cannot stop degrading our natural environments, and because of this, “lazy” days must stop being regarded as “unproductive” and start being regarded as “restful.”

“Lazy”

Unfortunately, the term “lazy” has been co-opted by capitalism, which itself is a crisis economic system and has directly factored into numerous mental health crises at a global scale. Without capitalism, there would likely be fewer mental health crises, but even then, there would still be some level of mental health crises of concern.

Neighbors Slow Down the Pace of Life

For someone to be a good neighbor, they must prove that they can slow down one’s pace of life and enforce community while also focusing on enforcing the norms of communal values over stereotypical and/or traditional social scripts. In my personal experience, I have always ever been trapped within a false sense of “safety” by being forced to live in suburbia where, in fact, I am actually at risk of feeling unsafe because of my lack of community and because of the crisis of capitalism.

The Ball Drop at Times Square

If there is anything I would like to try for the first time, it is simply attending the New Year’s Ball Drop event(s) at Times Square every new year. This is especially interesting because of the business and crowds of enchantment as well as because of the excitement of potential natural social opportunities in the area, particularly within a certain party at the event. Numerous smaller festivals across the nation are also quite interesting to me, including the Big E at the Eastern States Exposition, the Quarter Horse Congress at the Ohio Expo Center and State Fair, and even numerous country and other musical genres’ festivals at numerous locales throughout the Northeast and the Upper Midwest in particular.

Capitalism Causes Procrastination

I have largely been putting off on my homework until the very last minute, unfortunately, particularly as the capitalist system is well-known for causing procrastination that the system punishes and calls “laziness.” Both “laziness” and “procrastination” are capitalist constructs in the very exact shape and form that results in the concept of deadlines as a capitalist construct, even if indirectly. This is particularly “alarming” and/or “concerning” on my computer science classes as I absolutely doubt that I would ever know absolutely everything perfectly in any meaningful way(s).

The Risky Conquests of Talking to Strangers

Honestly, the first time I had ever felt like a grown-up was actually the first time I had gained access to actually talk to strangers over the Internet. Unfortunately, there is no respite nor help and safety is a punishment of the suburbanization crisis, and I have always longed for an escape hatch from society and from general societal norms and toward either perfectly cosmopolitan utopia in Yankeedom or vast expanses of rural areas also in Yankeedom.

One Million Dollars for Maine’s State Artist

If I had one million dollars to give away, then I would most likely give the money away to the “Official State Artist of Maine,” Eric Hopkins, of Rockland, Maine and North Haven, Maine. Because Eric Hopkins is well-renowned in the State of Maine for his artwork, and because he has a brother who might be in the LGBTQIA+ community (impossible to know for sure), I would absolutely wish to give my million dollars to give away to Eric Hopkins and his family line, since he was born all the way back in 1951.

Research on novaTop Identity Influences

Preamble

Throughout much of the Northeastern United States, and even beyond–numerous events and belief systems originating from both Pilgrim and Puritan cultures have eventually resulted in the more progressive identity model of novaTopFlex across facets of life and lifestyle choices. While novaTopFlex is successfully unique and independent of stereotypes and social scripts as well as related social roles, the novaTop identity continues to evolve in large part thanks to the existing roles and rules of the phenomena from the past.

Continued Research

novaTopFlex continues to identify numerous locales predominantly north of the 41st degree of latitude north of the equator, also known as the 41st parallel north. While the locales are generally selected through conformity to the principles of inclusivity in Yankeedom, several locations have also been identified predominantly further to the south, particularly in such spaces as the Columbus and Philadelphia areas.

The novaTop Travel Itinerary: Progress and Surprises

Preamble

novaTopFlex was initially expecting a set of values where alignment could occur specifically within Vermont and Western Massachusetts (the Berkshires and Pioneer Valley). However, even with a certain economic mindset where utopian communal values are highly preferable with a balance of interdependent daylight and independent privacy by night, novaTopFlex continues to identify surprises where energy alignment continues to occur even beyond the northwestern corner of New England and into the remaining states of New England (save for New Hampshire, where values alignment occurs uniquely along U.S. 202), plus New York (both the city and the state), plus New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and perhaps even into the Upper Midwest.

Surprise Interests through History

Throughout the crossroads of such a region of Yankeedom, combinations of modern and traditional interests abound to create a pure and precise collection of locations where novaTop values are most compatible and most commonly interpreted correctly. Such regions include the aforementioned Northeast and Upper Midwest, though surprises could also exist elsewhere, particularly in Columbus, Ohio; Washington, District of Columbia; and Richmond, Virginia.

novaTopFlex Interests Outside the Northeast

Even though novaTopFlex may prioritize the Northeastern United States over all other regions of the nation, numerous locations in the Great Lakes region and the Upper Midwest in general may also be of particularly deep interest under similar historical values and common strangles of historical significance with the New England region. Of particular interest to the novaTop community domestically are the northern fifth of Ohio, the northernmost tier of counties in Indiana, all of Michigan, all of Wisconsin, all of Minnesota, Northern Illinois, the northernmost counties of Iowa, and the extreme east of both North Dakota and South Dakota.

Yankeedom: Connections Beyond New England

novaTopFlex values are also compatible with cultural logic not just in New England and into New York and the northernmost portions of Pennsylvania but into the Great Lakes region as a whole, plus also into the easternmost stretches of both North Dakota and South Dakota at the westernmost extreme(s). Additional states of interest may include Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota; the northernmost tiers of Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Iowa shall also be included.

Alfred, New York

How can a very small community in rural Allegany County in Western New York have such an extensive cultural powerhouse? Alfred, located in such a rural area within range of Wellsville (largest community) and Belmont (county seat), is capable of captivating nontraditional lived experiences and even lived experiences in counter cultural movements because of historical contexts of the Burned-over District as well as the modern context in which the Alfred State branch of SUNY coincides with Alfred University. Interestingly, the community contains two colleges but only one stoplight and is associated with the ceramics industry.

Individuals in society should be warned about the “Giant Chair Squad” post because of potential tensions that could result from viewing. While tensions resulting from opening the post up to public view may not be perfectly guaranteed, novaTopFlex worries about specific localities having access to the post. The “Giant Chair Squad” post may also be of historical interest, showcasing how connections can occasionally extend beyond whatever values may often be considered or identified as “traditional values.” Particular locations of interest to research for inspiration include the very small Alfred, New York, and the somewhat larger Oberlin, Ohio. Both locations are part of the large-scale region known as “Yankeedom,” where progressive policies continue to abound and even originate at times. Historically amongst the most progressive regions, even including the history of British Colonial America, Yankeedom continues to value authenticity in solidarity without regards to stereotypes nor stereotyping.

Beyond the college towns listed above, additional influences exist at the personal level from centuries ago, including W. E. B. DuBois, Lucretia Mott, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Mark Twain, Nathan Hale, Maria Mitchell, and numerous additional influences from the Yankee culture. Ideally, such personal influences should be associated with New England, New York, the Mid-Atlantic region, and the Great Lakes culture and community values.
