Introduction
The island of Guadalcanal is the principal island of the Solomon Islands, home to Honiara, the capital of the independent nation. Today, the Solomon Islands are set up so that the area of the City of Honiara is included within the Capital District rather than within Guadalcanal Province, while remaining located on the Melanesian island of Guadalcanal.

Within the City of Honiara, the most notable tourist attractions include the Solomon Islands National Museum, the National Art Gallery, the Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau, the Solomon Scouts and Coastwatchers Monument, the Dreamcast Art Hub, and the Supreme Casino, with the eastern attractions largely determined by the local Chinatown.
