On the day of publication of this article is the hypercapitalist and hyperconsumerist “Black Friday” occasion, which unfortunately becomes a very wasteful occasion every year. Capitalism is always, and will always be, a crisis, and without the system life would become infinitely better off. Without capitalism, the risky behaviors that are literally killing the planet—and all life—can be resolved, even if the systems in place have already resulted in irreparable damage.
