Overview
The twinned communities of Cannelton and Hawesville are located on opposite sides of the Ohio River within Indiana and Kentucky, respectively. While Cannelton is located within Perry County, Indiana, the K-12 public school district is considered separate from the districts elsewhere in the relatively rural county. On the Kentucky side, the City of Hawesville is located within Hancock County and serves as the county seat, somewhat upstream from the City of Owensboro to which the community is strongly connected.
