When recording videos to YouTube, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth features are disabled prior to the beginning of the recording time. The intensification of the setup may vary with the specific video topic(s), but the most intense setups will be set up as follows:
- Four VNC Servers, resolution 2048×1152, with TightVNC (5901–5904) and JWM
- 5901 on upper left with background set to “LightSlateBlue”
- 5902 on upper right with background set to “LightSlateGrey”
- 5903 on lower left with background set to “DarkSlateBlue”
- 5904 on lower right with background set to “DarkSlateGrey”
- One VNC Server, resolution 4096×2304, with TigerVNC (5905) and a window manager appropriate for the context
For less intense video topics and video setups, such as videos that follow along with documentation, expect somewhat lower resolutions for the VNC servers. Whenever an alternate desktop environment or window manager is being discussed, expect to activate a single 1920×1080 VNC server with the environment in question.
Within most videos, expect a total of sixteen (16) workspaces on desktop environments and window managers for every desktop incorporated into the system, with the organization structure as follows:
| Desktop 1 | Applications that require Internet connectivity; Offline documentation browsers when Wi-Fi and Bluetooth disabled |
| Desktop 2 | Virtual machines with QEMU on the host system and SSH logins with terminal emulator(s) on virtual systems |
| Desktop 3 | Utility applications, including terminal emulators, that may or may not require Internet access; do not expect most applications on this workspace to demand access to networking. |
| Desktop 4 | Applications from office suites and productivity |
| Desktop 5 | Audio applications, particularly audio-editing applications |
| Desktop 6 | Video applications, particularly video-editing applications |
| Desktop 7 | VNC (Virtual Network Computing) viewers |
| Desktop 8 | Interactive Python, Python applications, and terminal emulators with Python processes |
| Desktop 9 | Graphics editors and applications for graphics editing |
| Desktop 10 | Applications for the creation and editing of fonts |
| Desktop 11 | Sampling of Graphical Applications within Python |
| Desktop 12 | Sampling of Graphical Applications within Python after Desktop 11 exhausted |
| Desktop 13 | Sampling of Graphical Applications within Python after Desktops 11 and 12 exhausted |
| Desktop 14 | Sampling of Graphical Applications within Python after Desktops 11, 12, and 13 exhausted |
| Desktop 15 | Sampling of Graphical Applications within Python after Desktops 11, 12, 13, and 14 exhausted |
| Desktop 16 | Sampling of Graphical Applications within Python after Desktops 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 exhausted Note: novaTopFlex will never create nor destroy desktops or workspaces within most situations; expect exactly sixteen desktops or workspaces per individual display. |
