Introduction
The southern portion of Oxford County, Maine, contains notable cultural traits largely determined by the cultural aspects of neighboring New Hampshire counties to the west, including Coös County as well as Carroll County. The Fryeburg Fair is the signature autumnal attraction in the region and is often the largest fair by total attendance physically located in the State of Maine. Also in the Town of Fryeburg is the White Gables Inn, located along the north side of United States Route 302.
Towns of Paris and Norway
The Town of Paris serves as the county seat of Oxford County, Maine, and contains a village area at the southwestern corner of the town, with the Town of Norway containing an adjoining village directly to the west. The Lights Out Gallery is perhaps the most iconic feature of the extremely minuscule conurbation, with the Town of Norway providing access to the gallery area.
