Hype for the Future 78E: The Point Pleasant Micropolitan Area

Overview

Associated with Mason County, West Virginia; and Gallia County, Ohio, is the Point Pleasant Micropolitan Area, the Ohio side of which is home to the French Art Colony museum as well as the Gallipolis Railway Freight Station Museum. Though not necessarily in the micropolitan area, the Meigs County Museum is attached to the community of Middleport further upstream along the river. On the West Virginian side, the West Virginia State Farm Museum is located alongside the Mason County, West Virginia, Fairgrounds northeast of the central community of Point Pleasant. The Mason County, West Virginia, fair, by the way, is typically attached to the beginning part of the month of August every year.

Overview

Rio Grande is a village located off United States Route 35 in the northwestern portion of Gallia County, Ohio. With a residential population of under one thousand, the University of Rio Grande, under private control, is likely of a similarly small stature. However, beyond the perspective associated with the community, Rio Grande is also identified as the beginning of the story of Bob Evans throughout the entirety of the State of Ohio from along modern State Route 588 south of Route 35. Also associated with the community are the north-south State Route 325 and the east-west State Route 554 to the north of Route 35.
