Overview
Grinnell is an isolated city, home to the elite Grinnell College and serving as the county seat of Poweshiek County, Iowa, just a few counties east of the City of Des Moines. Located primarily along the east-west axis of Route 6, the community effectively maintains a feel of eccentricity, with the Iowa Valley Community College also located to the west and the Grinnellian House Bed and Breakfast centrally located within the community. As with many other colleges and universities, and especially the elite institutions, Grinnell hosts the Grinnell College Museum of Art on campus to serve the general public.
