While Boston is often highly associated with the pinnacle of human intelligence and is often the city that novaTopFlex thinks the most highly about, Amherst, Northampton, and Hadley are also notable places that support novaTop values. Breaking free from tradition and opening up doors to values of the modern day, novaTopFlex is highly interested in learning more about social roles in a more communal worldview.

How to Safely Ally for Anti-Capitalists
Per novaTop conventions, the avoidance of pronouns is key to ensuring additional layers of anonymity beyond the expected levels online. By avoiding pronouns, anticapitalist allies can mitigate the risks of scrutiny and additional forms of fallout through ensuring protection from articles and information being traced back to the community.
In addition to the complete avoidance of pronouns, words traditionally associated with “scary” economic systems should also be avoided as much as reasonably possible. Individual and community allies can expect to receive comments about “socialism,” “communism,” or even “anarchism;” however, modern advocates would be more ideally suited to phrases as opposed to individual words. For instance, allies can expect to receive safety replacing words such as “anarchism” with “modern economic needs,” “updated economic policies,” or even a phrase as simple as “community care,” which, despite the name, is very different from the connotations of “communism.”

What novaTopFlex Learned from the Philadelphia Community
At the beginning of every Permacomputing and Solarpunk meetup, the individuals of the community are asked for their respective pronouns. For instance, I am Andrew Kay (novaTopFlex), and I am he/him/his. A few of the individuals, myself included, are not from Philadelphia, and that is actually another question from the Permacomputing call over on Jitsi. I am not directly affiliated with either of these software services and/or concepts but these are commonly used by novaTopFlex identities.

Did you know that Jews people are comfortable openly talking about their Jewish heritage over at Iffy Books, and that everyone is very welcoming and inclusive? If you are not accustomed to such friendliness, welcome to the community; however, in some cases people may also come from other states like Texas where there may only be two (or fewer) anarchist communities.
September 29 Meetup
I was on the call with a person nicknamed “Asteroid,” she/her/hers. On this day in 2025, I have learned with her and with the Iffy Books community about a few important websites and content/privacy concerns, including, but not at all limited to, anarsec.space and privacy.com for credit cards. Recommendations for privacy have also included disabling Wi-Fi and Bluetooth where possible, using random phone numbers for masking, and even using Signal as opposed to all other platforms. Especially since our community may be interested in protesting and activism, there is an elevated reason to use Signal and even burner phones.
Benefits of Permacomputing
According to the Permacomputing group at large, the most important and logical way(s) to utilize the Permacomputing model include Linux, *BSD, Solaris, and other UNIX-like systems; minimized use of technology; and additional aspects influenced by both permaculture and perhaps horticulture as well.
Eco-Feminism and Additional Economic Influences
In a world beyond the patriarchy, a world where friendship is no longer deemed as “less than” nor taboo compared to the forced conquest of deeper feelings and commitments, ecofeminism allows for our authentic selves to be expressed in our community, not just for in-person bonds but also between subcommunities such as modern-day technological Luddites.

Detesting the Myth of “Biology is Destiny”
Although society has often expected stereotypical paths to result from every interaction, numerous communities across the United States, Canada, and possibly other countries and regions are developing violations of these societal stereotypes, expectations, and scripted rules in every possible way. Within the United States, all six of the New England states and certain portions of New England are no longer discriminating based on numerous characteristics that may or may not be identified as superficial.
novaTopFlex Beliefs
The novaTop community believes that no economic system currently exists that supports the idealistic behaviors of and violations of stereotypes of society. However, while no existing economic modes exist for the ideals, capitalism itself contains numerous flaws that have resulted in unsustainable production needs. novaTopFlex believes in the ideals of anarchist thought as well as decolonial points of view, intersectional ideals including feminism, post-Marxist/anticapitalist thought, degrowth theories, and ecologist mindsets.
Symptoms of Capitalism
Within the capitalist system, numerous symptoms have largely emerged as a direct result. For instance, the global population capacity has been argued by biologists to hover around three billion, yet the global population in the modern day is nearer the “milestone” of eight billion. Capitalism is the most likely suspect for the significant population overshoot, since the system rewards conformity and adherence to traditional, vestigial social scripts. On the contrary, a system based on modern planetary needs would provide for quotas and would allow for dignity for the choosing by any number of individuals and collective groups within society.
Additional subtle yet important planetary needs for the system tend to include acknowledgement and recognition of the existing, largely irreversible harm that has already been performed toward the sole Earth that society can claim to offer in 2025. Two notable examples are the fashion industry and global overshoot days. According to Commons Earth, global resource “Overshoot Day” has typically progressed one week earlier each year compared to the year before and may occur as early as July or August in many developed nations. If society continues to focus on vestigial and stereotypical social codes, such as stigma for never finding an “opposites attract” or “biology is destiny” moment, then the population overshoot and additional consequences would add up to result in additional overshoot-day risks, possibly even resulting in an inhospitable society well before the “Overshoot Day” designation reaches January, February, or perhaps even March. For a specialized example, Commons Earth et al. had identified that the fashion industry has already manufactured the fashion for as many as the next six generations. Unfortunately, however, the system continues to benefit on infinite growth, regardless of the truth of the situation.

Future Planning
In my future, I am most worried about my life at 18, 19, and 20, and i am afraid that capitalism will prevent me from carrying on beyond the age of 21. If I can even live to see 25, i am afraid of the high risk of extinction that our systems are creating. However, even under heavy capitalist pressure, i am temporarily able to resist the most obvious forms of capitalist influence. Such actions include posting onto ethical platforms under ActivityPub and the Fediverse domain, even if the connection is not inherently obvious at first.
Actions of Resistance
Even though I pledge to avoid proprietary software as much as reasonably possible, I unfortunately must post to proprietary services relatively frequently in my best efforts to gain a mainstream following. For instance, I have multiple YouTube channels, my primary one being at https://www.youtube.com/@novaTopFlex, providing information on various free and open-source topics, particularly in the software domain.
However, I continue to maintain my position as a free software and an open-source software advocate together, and even my online presence calls out the claim, “we need a mass proliferation of open-source software.” I prioritize my access to Mastodon and Lemmy in particular, though I would accept traditional IRC (especially Libera.chat) over such a proprietary service as Discord. In addition to my aforementioned position, I aspire to become one of the editors of Permacomputing, at least on the side of my activities.

Sustainable Difficulties
Promoting a Sustainable Lifestyle
Unfortunately, we are trapped in the economic systems that actively prevent attempts to make for more sustainable lifestyles. In our modern society, there seems to be no escape from dependency on proprietary industries, hardware or software, automotive or otherwise. Since there is no viable escape for most of the modern population, we must resort to advocacy to ensure a livable and sustainable future for all. Therefore, the best action that I am taking to live a more sustainable life is actually supporting Permacomputing.

Permacomputing refers to the project to advocate for technologies that support all of the following:
- Right to repair from Louis Rossmann
- Free Software from Richard M. Stallman
- Open Source from Eric S. Raymond, Christine Peterson, et al.
- “Non-woke” Software Ideology from Bryan Lunduke
