Introduction
The City of Lebanon, Ohio, is located within Warren County, and serves as the seat of the county. Located conveniently nearby with respect to the City of Cincinnati, Lebanon is largely determined as a gateway community in the direction of Columbus.
Highways
Today, the City of Lebanon is directly traversed by United States Route 42 and Ohio State Routes 48, 63, and 123. Beyond the four routes directly cutting through the downtown area, the northern fringe of the City of Lebanon is accessible from the west and northwest along Ohio State Route 122.
Interstates 71 and 75 are situated relatively nearby, but neither Interstate Highway directly passes through the communities as small as Lebanon. Interstate 75 is to the west, while Interstate 71 is to the south and east; downtown highway directions will provide information only regarding Interstate 71 toward Cincinnati (south) and Columbus (north).
Amenities
Within the downtown area of the City of Lebanon, the signature feature of the community is the historic Golden Lamb Hotel and Restaurant, once the oldest operating hotel in the State of Ohio (since 1803) and now a modern hotel to stay at. Attached to the Golden Lamb is the area of the Black Horse Tavern, and both names are descended from the symbols that have been utilized for the illiterate population of the time, as the public building was built prior to compulsory education laws.
Beyond the Golden Lamb Hotel and Restaurant, just a few other notable attractions exist within the surrounding regions, including the Lebanon Mason Monroe Railroad, the Floraville Historic District to the south, GroundHog Hill, the Harmon Museum with the 1795 Beedle Log Cabin, and the Thomas Corwin House—all within the central area of the city.
While not much exists within the immediate outskirts associated with the City of Lebanon, the UNESCO World Heritage Site at Fort Ancient is of particular importance to Warren County, including, but not limited to, the nearby community. Throughout the year, different festivities associated with the general public within the City of Lebanon include the Lebanon Country Music Festival in June, the Lebanon Blues Festival in early August, and the Lebanon Horse Drawn Carriage Parade in early December.
