Introduction
The Towns of Jackman and Moose River are two adjoining towns located within northern Somerset County, Maine. Though many businesses in Jackman may use the name “Moose River” and vice versa, the general pattern of distinction between the two towns is to identify Moose River as the more northern and significantly less populated side (under two hundred residents) while the Town of Jackman is the more southern and significantly more populated side (nearer eight hundred residents).
Jackman and Moose River are geographically two towns accessible via United States Route 201 on the northward journey toward Québec, Canada, and the towns are largely determined by Wood Pond to the west. Sawyer’s Maple Farm is located further to the east, and the maple producer is associated with the area nearer the Narrows to the east. Perhaps the most notable of the places to stay is the iconic Northland Hotel, located in the Town of Jackman, Maine.
