Overview
Located at the northeast corner of the State of North Dakota, directly opposite the westernmost point of the State of Minnesota, is the City of Pembina, located at the northeastern edge of Pembina County and home to the Pembina State Museum. As with Kittson County, Minnesota, the county in North Dakota is a similarly small and rural county, with the City of Cavalier only around 1,200 residents serving as the county seat of Pembina County. Around six miles west of the City of Cavalier is the Icelandic State Park, with the Pembina County Historical Museum located directly opposite Route 5. Many of the communities along the eastern side of the county are also accessible by way of Interstate 29 and Route 81 in the region.
