The approximate media market boundaries for Dayton, Ohio, cover a number of counties in the west-central portion of the State of Ohio as well as Wayne County, Indiana. Within the State of Ohio, the included counties are Mercer, Darke, Preble, Auglaize, Shelby, Miami, Montgomery, Logan, Champaign, Clark, and Greene.
Colleges and Universities
Within the media market of Dayton, Ohio, a number of notable colleges and universities have defined the general region. The Indiana portion, spanning only Wayne County, is home to Indiana University East and the private Earlham College, while the Ohio portion contains two public universities and a number of private universities influencing the region.
Both of the public universities within the Ohio portion of the media market of Dayton, namely Wright State University (Fairborn) and Central State University (Wilberforce), are located within Greene County. Also in Greene County are Antioch College (Yellow Springs), Wilberforce University (Wilberforce), and Cedarville University (Cedarville), all private institutions.
Outside Greene County, but still in the media market of the City of Dayton, are the University of Dayton, Kettering College, and Wittenberg University (Springfield). Though Ohio Northern University is located within Hardin County, thus representing the media market of Columbus, the Lake Campus of Wright State University remains historically connected to ONU and is located within Mercer County and Grand Lake east of Celina.
