Overview
Within the United States of America, Route 224 is a route covering three distinct states in the union—namely Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, from west to east. The western terminus of the highway is located in Huntington, Indiana, while the eastern terminus is located in New Castle, Pennsylvania. Between Huntington and New Castle, however, much of the route is relatively rural and often two-lane, with the most notable exception occurring within the Greater Akron area. Elsewhere, Route 224 is a relatively conservative route, and the two-lane nature of the highway is largely suitable for select Amish communities associated with the surrounding area. In the northeastern and north-central portions of the State of Ohio, Route 224 is often only around one mile north of the southern boundary of the historic Connecticut Western Reserve.
